First homework post!

So, as some of you may know, I am now enrolled in the Entertainment Design program at Gnomon School of Visual Effects, which means... homework posts!  This is the first 'fun' assignment.  In art history we had to choose a character to design from The Epic of Gilgamesh.  I chose to design the goddess, Ishtar.

Creature concept for experimental short film

This is a creature concept my director friend and I are developing for an experimental short film we are collaborating on.  There is a masculine and feminine version because we are playing with the idea of this creature being able to change its sex when need be (both are pretty androgynous but with slight differences).  We don't know yet what that need might be, but hey, that's development!
Also, this is a new style of sketching I'm trying out.  In fact, this is the first time in awhile I've done actual 'sketches' as opposed to full illustrations.  Stay tuned for more like this!

Personal Project

Here are a couple of designs I did to be used for my own postcard giveaway, specifically for Comic Con.  This is my first attempt in a couple of years at making something outside of work.  Hopefully there will be more on the way!

True Blood: Season 5 - Hot Wings

These are a series of fairies I illustrated for episode 4 of the current season of True Blood.  They come from a 'fairy sex club' of sorts.  Costumes designed by Audrey Fisher.

True Blood - Comic Con 2012

Here is the Television Costume Design panel giveaway for 2012.  It's Jessica! I was on the panel this year representing costume illustration in television.  The panel also included Audrey Fisher (True Blood), Chrisi Karvonides (American Horror Story), and Jenni Gullett (Fringe).  Costume designed by Audrey Fisher.

American Horror Story - Pilot 2011

This is a costume illustration I did for the American Horror Story pilot episode.  The image is of the 'Infantata' that reoccurs throughout the season.  Costume designed by Lou Eyrich.

V Magazine "Drawn This Way" Competition

This was my entry for the V Magazine "Drawn This Way" Competition.  The object was to submit an illustration of Lady Gaga in one of her recent looks to potentially be displayed next to her column in the magazine.  I chose a look from her "You and I" music video.

Glee: Season 2 - "The Substitute" & "Rumors" 2011

More Glee!  Here are two more episodes I worked on.  I did a dress for Gwyneth Paltrow for her Chicago number and a David Bowie/Ziggy Stardust Costume for Jane Lynch's character, Sue Sylvester.  Costumes designed by Lou Eyrich.

True Blood - Comic Con 2011

Here is the Television Costume Design panel giveaway for Comic Con 2011.  It's Lafayette!  Costumes designed by Audrey Fisher.

Costume design project: A Perfect Ending

I was the costume designer for the feature film, A Perfect Ending, written and directed by Nicole Conn.   We shot it in March/April 2011 and it is currently playing in the festival circuit.

Costume Design projects

Although I'm focusing my career on digital artistry, I went to school to be a costume designer, and as such worked on films for about two years after I graduated.  Here are some compilations of films I designed costumes for.

Dunkin Donuts commercial

These are costume illustrations for a Captain America themed commercial for Dunkin Donuts.  The construction worker goes through a series of a events that eventually changes his work uniform to resemble Captain America's.  Costumes designed by Susan Nininger.

Children's book character studies

Here is a character I helped design for a children's book.  Her name is Maya and the three images show her progression in the story.  These were done in 2010.   Author is Tiffany White.

Glee: Season 2 - "The Rocky Horror Glee Show" 2010

Another first! The first time I worked on Glee.  We had the challenge of turning the character, Mercedes, into Frankenfurter from the Rocky Horror Show.  We also worked on a Columbia costume for Heather Morris's character, Brittany.  Costumes designed by Lou Eyrich.

True Blood - Comic Con 2010

This is my first ever illustration for True Blood.  It was for the Comic Con autograph giveaway that took place after the Television Costume Designers panel.  Costume designed by Audrey Fisher.  More of these to come!
